Physical: You will feel pressure on the sides of your feet inside the boot. You should feel the centrifugal force gently pulling you toward the outside of the turn, which you counteract by leaning your knees into the turn.
Audio: The “whirrr” of the bearings remains constant. You should not hear a skidding or scraping sound (which indicates sliding wheels rather than rolling).
Verify Success:
- The Slalom Test: Place two distinct markers (like cones, rocks, or chalk marks) on the ground about 10 feet apart.
- Gain speed and glide towards them.
- Steer to the left of the first marker, then straighten out.
- Steer to the right of the second marker.
